SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 16

Requesting the division of highways to name the bridge crossing the Greenbrier River on Route 250 the "Mabel Burner Memorial Bridge".

Whereas, Mabel Burner lived in Durbin more than seventy- five years and touched the lives of many people; and
Whereas, Mabel Burner was an encouragement to youth, a comforter to the sick and a constant reminder of the goodness to be found in virtuous people; and
Whereas, She played the piano and organ in church for over seventy years and taught several generations of Sunday school students; and
Whereas, She constantly baked bread and sewed quilts for charitable fund-raising events; and
Whereas, When she died in 1992, the people of Durbin lost the best of good neighbors and an inspiration to the whole community; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the division of highways is hereby requested to name bridge number 38-250-13.15 (2030) which crosses the Greenbrier River on Route 250, the Mabel Burner Memorial Bridge; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby requested to forward a copy of this resolution to the commissioner of the division of highways and to he governor.
